Press Freedom in Cyberspace:
Where are the Frontiers in the Internet?
The Internet does not know the borders of time and space. More and more the Internet is used as a mass media. Press freedom and freedom of speech are cornerstones of a media system in a democratic society. Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights guarantees the individual right to freedom of expression. But where are the limits for press freedom in a global world which is confronted with racism, violence, terrorism and child pornography in the Internet? Different countries have different standards and it is difficult to find a global answer to the new challenges.
