The Network of the Future:
Challenges of the Internet of Things

The 2nd Socio-Economic Workshops of the EURO-NF Project, Leipzig, June 14–16, 2009, brings together experts from the academic community and the private sector to discuss political, social and economic implications of the future development of the Internet, in particular with regard to the “Internet of Things”. Day 1 discusses the broader context of the “Internet of Things”, taking into account the results of the various initiatives auf the European Commission (Bled, April 2008; Nice October 2008; Praha, May 2009) and the outcome of the recent UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Hyderabad, December 2008, where a new “Dynamic Coalition of the Internet of Things” was formed. Day 2 is a more internal workshop for members of the EURO-NF project where the various sub themes of the EURO-NF Workpackage 3 will be discussed.
